For now consider it my problem, not yours.
errors may be related to my using XP in virtualbox on a Mac.
Annoying; but rdss doesn't seem to be affected by the errors.

I have sound off - zoom at 95%
I use 1024 window for xp - mac is 21" at 1680x1050 max - this leaves space to have a few things open and visible side by side
may try virtualbox seamless mode which would use the whole monitor
for what it's worth:
virtualbox has default audio as
driver: coreaudio (Apple) - (other choice is null driver)
controller: ich ac97 - (other choice is soundblaster 16)
