Taking the spec160 trial. It said where to get tamedos but now can't find it now that i've got it installed. Acting crazy on my XP, so need the Tamedos. Where do I get it?

Hi Chuck,

also do this.

1) go into spec folder and find the program
2) right click on it and select "properties"
3) then click the "misc" tab on top
4) you will then see a "slider". Slide it all the way to the right and then click
"apply"

the program will run better ok?

Richie

Chuck,

I run my Spec160 and Validator with 'Font' setting at 5 x 8 in the Properties|Font tab. I get a nicely sized window in the middle of my screen (not a honking big one as with the Auto font setting).

Using TameDOS 5.1, I can get several DOS windows up all running various flavours of Spec, Val, etc (or multiple copies of Spec if run from different folders). I wish I'd had this TameDOS version over the past several years - makes using the older DOS apps a dream. Anyone using an older version should download the new one.

Ted

Tamedos solves the erratic problem but creates another problen. When I go to BLBL screen the Synthesis screen below gets cut off and only see about 3 horses there. Also the hide is gone and i have to go to pacelines again and remove the check marks any horses i want to hide or not include.

Chuck,

I'm no expert at TameDos but try the TameDos View menu items, per the screenshot below. If the Default System row/column layout is not working for you, try 43 row VGA or 50 row VGA. You could also tinker with Text Aspect Ratio and Line Spacing options.

If that doesn't solve it, try some of the other options on the View menu. if that doesn't work, try the TameDos FAQ, or write to the TameDos author. He does answer tech support questions.

Hope it helps!

Ted

Thanks, Ted but didn't work. Not only is my synthesis screen cut off but the matchup screens as well when over 7 horses in race. Anybody else experience this and any solutions?

This is my first post here after being in lurker mode for awhile.

But I've found that Tame Dos version 5 works correctly as far as screen size goes. If you use 5.1 you have to adjust the settings like Ted said to 43 row VGA. So try uninstalling 5.1 and install 5.0.

Dumptruk, Your suggestion worked. 5.0 was the answer. Thanks.
