Ultra Scan Help!

Hi Folks,

Just returned to handicapping after several years away and I've lost my copy of Ultra Scan. I had great success with it back in the day and would love to pick up where I left off.

If anyone has a copy or knows where I can find one, I'd really appreciate the help.

Thanks!

Don't think you'll have any luck. I looked for an original copy for years and never found one. I did find a copy on an old Commodore but was not able to successfully convert it to be used in DOS or even with a Commodore emulator in DOS.

The new retro C64 came out earlier this year but it runs Linux and I have no idea what the compatibility is with the old tapes, 5 1/4" diskettes, etc. Seems pricey for what it it is. You can put Windows on it & a proprietary Commodore OS but unless you get a barebones kit, it starts at $595. The dual core Atom processor it uses is mainly used in netbooks or nettops.

There is a version called UPLus which Dick Schmidt gave to a bunch of us which is not the original but which I think gives similar output. It is all manual entry of course. DOS based so you will need something like DOSBOX to run it well on Windows. If on Win 7, you may need Win Virtual PC/Win XP Mode to run it or run a virtual XP machine on something like Oracle Virtual Box, which is what I do.

I did scan the original UltraScan manual and digitized some audio tapes that discuss UltraScan, both of which Richie P put in the Library.

Hope that helps.
