Hi Bill-

I am able to run Val4 in Dosbox but when i try to download a racecard it says no cards downloaded for that date. I think it has something to do with the fact that we usually have a separate val4 directory and a trkmast directory for racecards. Is there any way around this?

Thanks,

Pete

Hi Pete

I had the same problem. I can run val 4 using my little notebook with windows 7. However I can not use Val 4 on any of my other computers using windows 7 with or without Dos box. My solution was to purchase an upgrade to windows 7 professional and then run virtual machine which lets me run windows xp
In windows xp mode Val 4 works perfectly without needing Dos Box

I made a video on how I use Dosbox on my Surface Pro with Windows 8, to run the old programs. You can set up Dosbox to open the old programs directly. If this video helps and you would like to know how, let me know and I wil make another video to explain. I had to load it on you tube.

In a earlier post Bill V was talking about running virtual machine with Windows 7 professional

Can someone please explain what that is?

Hi,

Dosbox is a program that will let you run old programs on new computers. One of the big problem with new machines is fast processors, so fast in fact that old programs crash. This simple program turns your G1 thoroughbred into a 4000 claimer.
