Eddie Arcaro and Norman Rockwell

This was the cover of The Saturday Evening Post on June 28, 1958. It's titled "Jockey Weighing In" by Norman Rockwell and of course, that's Eddie Arcaro with a track official that Rockwell conjured from his wonderfully creative mind. I remember how my father laughed about it and how that magazine laid around our living room for several weeks. I don't think my mother understood the humor and eventually dispatched it to the land of the missing, along with my baseball cards. Enjoy.

Thanks for posting this, Mick. It has long been a favorite and I have a print of this hanging in my house.

Norman Rockwell was one of America's truly great artist. Another I always liked was Peb who for 30 years or more did horse racing drawings and many front covers for the old DRF. Such tremendous minds and photographic memory to capture a split second in time and re-create it.

Thanks for the memories Mick.
