I think you covered this before with wire to wire winners where that pacline may not be representative of today's Match-Up. Many of these will have the highest TE and look really good on the readouts. Since you are familiar with both Energy and Speculator are you selecting your pacelines in the same way? This might seem to be a curious question coming from me, but I would like your opinions on this. Thanks-----Houndog.
"Dog",

Ok the screen you see showing for each horse's pacelines is actually the 2nd screen I use to confirm/reject the paceline in question.

I do NOT pick pacelines based on total energy with THIS software. There is a much better way.

I pick pacelines based on the best line as far as COMPOUNDED ratings the horse has against ITSELF. For that I use the "f3" tab.

here is a screenshot. Over to the right you see a "tot-r" - that is the ranking of the horse when adding up the compounded or "Perceptor" ratings for THAT paceline. I use THAT ranking to select a line.

here is a screen shot of that Michael

continuing

Dog,
ok now when I get my line ( s) marked on f3 I hit "f4" tab and over to the rigth we get the e/l graph numbers for each race. It shows how the horse ran in that race.

Under the "Late" column a number there would show exactly the same on late side of e/l graph screen

Under the "Ear" column a number there would show up on the early or right side of e/l graph screen.

I look to use lines that are kinda within a "range" or "norm" for a horse Michael. ESPECIALLY an older horse who has settled into a definitive "style pattern".

"Young ones" are a bit harder to get a handle on as they are still confused and developing. More leeway is needed here.

just as an example. here is a screen shot of f4 tab. ok let's assume for illustrative purposes that the 4th line down is on todays surface ( turf). Let's also assume that that line shows best on the f3 tab ok? Now when we go to f4 we see that 13.4 Early. Even though this is a 3 yr old BECAUSE he has MANY other races showing and ALL of them are on "Late" side there is NO WAY I would use that "Ear" line regardless of how good the totals on it are.

So I would deselect the line and go back to the drawing board on f3 tab.

hope this makes sense
Rich

Starting to Click

Yes it makes sense to me. I am going to print these posts out so I can refer to them. I just need to get a proper procedure down for this software if I am to use it to it's capability. Thanks for the help.
