Day 35 DMR feature race, Race 8 The Grade 2 Del Mar Derby

Yesterday was such a success, Let's stay at 9 furlongs and once again it is a grade 2 turf race But this is for 3 year-olds

This is the Del Mar Derby

It has been a great 2 days for me to be here for the live racing.
I have to get back to the road today, It has been a great meet
for me this time.
Hey Del Mar, When will I see you again?
I will be back here for the Bing Crosby fall meet
and THE BREEDERS CUP !!!

Very early look :|

Horse 1 Harbour Master (GB) 20/1 2 for 10. Presser. He has never run longer than 1 mile
Line 1 is a recent plus paceline so I will rate it.

Horse 2 Monster Man 20/1 Early Presser.2 for 9 Second race off a layoff.
Lines 2 and 3 are both plus races at today's distance of 9 furlongs.
Line 2 is 85 days ago line 3 is 108 days ago which is a little more than I usually go back to. This one has no graded stakes plus pacelines.

Horse 3 Bowies Hero 9/2 ML 4 for 7 Sustained, Line 1 is a recent plus paceline
but only at 1 mile, this one ran okay at 9 furlongs in the Grade 3 Pennine Ridge at Belmont.
I will accept the adjustments and use line 1

Horse 4.Markies Water 12/1 2 for 7 Sustained. He made a nice early move in the last race at today's distance, I will rate line 2 It is a plus line at today's distance.

Horse 5 Sharp Samurai 7/2 4 for 7 Early Presser Line 1 is a recent plus paceline
Line 2 at today's distance confirms that number Strong contender'

Horse 6 Fashion Business (GB) 6/1 Sustained 1 for 7 The last line is far and away its best race ever. It only has a maiden win but has plus races at 9 and 10 furlongs
Line 1

Horse 7 Colonist 6/1 Presser 2 for 6. Line 1 is the only turf race I can rate
It is a plus line at 8.5 In the grade 3 La Jolla Handicap.

Horse 8 Double Touch (GB) 20/1 Sustained 2 for 9. line 1 is a 0 race here at DMR.
Today it returns, Line 2 is a plus paceline at but only at the mile distance
The numbers are supported by a plus race at 9 furlongs on line 4.

Horse 9 Sorry Eric 6/1 Sustained 4 for 13 Line 1 is a plus paceline at todays distance
Its a win line, He also shows a win in line 3 at 9 furlongs.

Horse 10 Big Score 3/1 3 for 8 Sus Presser Class advantaged He has plus races in (2) grade 2 races and 1 grade 3 He was near the lead i the grade 1 Belmont derby. I'm going to line 4 Excusing line 1 and 2 for distance and line 3 looks like a
swamp with a slow 33 DTV. Comes from way back, so check the projected EP ratings

Horse 11 Ritzy A.P. 30/1 Sustained 1 for 6 Not in this life time
its plus lines are its maiden win at 8 furlongs and a 3rd place finish down the hill at Santa Anita.

8th DelMar 3 Sept. 17 9F Turf 3 yr. olds
# 1 L 4 rates and ran more S & late in last so this dis.shouldn’t be a problem. Still sorting itself out. Last was a good race settingit up for improvement today as good as its first start here in the U.S. Couldbe a shocker or make the EX. 20/1 ML An unknown factor.
#2 L 2 has won at the dis.
# 3 L 1 has won 4 of 7 starts and rated in only 9 F race,still runs greenly so has upside.
# 4 L 2 added B & won 2 of last 3, needed last after layoff, expect sharper today, upside and top unknown and should improve, did what hehad to for wins. Top???
# 5 L 1 has won 3 of 4 since switching to turf and has wontwice at today’s dis. of 9F, Top??
# 6 L 1 beaten by a hd. In last two, doesn’t appear to havethe will to win, I think he may need longer dis. than 9F & has won at 10Fwhile a late running horse, very consistent SR while climbing the class ladder,I’ll toss for today.
# 7 L 1 shows consistent SR while going up in class, added Bon in last and tried turf to run his best race yet. With only one race with Bon & one turf race this horse could be anything. An unknown factor becausehis true ability hasn’t been established yet. M/L 6-1 which should go up andmay pay a price.
# 8 L 2 low SR & only 2 wins of 9 starts, big step up inclass here and trainer only 7% for routes of 85 starts. Toss!
#9 scratched
# 10 L this horse has been running late in last few racesand its best races are more on the pace at 8F, he has the class to get a partbut I don’t like him for the win and may go off as favorite. Does add Blinkerstoday which could be the answer, another unknown factor at low odds, isconsistent and may get a part. Also lost last 3 races so I’ll downgrade.
# 11 L has lost last 4 in a row, not a G2 horse. Toss!!
Another tough 3 yr. race where they haven’t developed yetand risky from a betting point. With all the questions I’ll go for a price andan upset. No big wager here, also the 7th & 9th arefull of many unknown factors making the DD tough with the 9th thebetter of the two. Tread lightly with some fun bets.
1-5-7-4-6 a wag with this one (wild as- guess) out of the 4, 6, 7 I’ll take the two w/ longest odds.
