pace line selection question

A member once posted a pace line selection method he was using which involved using the velocity-poh screen. He said to find the best second call time on that screen and use that for your pace line selection. Im a new user and im not sure which number would be the second call. Would it be the (F2#) or the (SC#) under the velocity section?? Thanks for all the help.

Hi cville, and welcome!

SC means Second Call, so that's the number you're looking for. F2 means Fraction 2. Together, F1 and F2 add up to Second Call.

In Sprints, F1 is the velocity related to the first 2 furlongs, and F2 for the next 2 furlongs. And SC is the velocity for the first 4 furlongs (i.e. comprising both F1 and F2).

In Routes, F1 is for the first 4 furlongs and F2 for the next 2 furlongs, while SC is for the first 6 furlongs.

Of course, on the PoH velocity screens, pacelines of ANY distance are equalized to TODAY's distance, thus all the above segmental velocities represent an equalized distance regardless of their original distance shown on the Original Screen.

Hope that helps,

Ted
