Trakmaster data

This Jan and Feb 2015,i checked out Trackmaster .exe data files (the data Val4/Spec160 uses) and I have a friend who has a Trackmaster conversion program convert it to .drf files. There's quite some discrepancies. Here'a sample race.Tampa 2-22-2015 race 4...First comparison, using Trackmaster data,i'll use Workhorse to show the pp's then to Aodds 98 velocity screen and exported to Energy2...

Ray, Can you summarize what are the discrepancies? That's a lot of screen shots ...

5th or 10's

Hi Ray

It looks like aodds and hr have the times in 5ths
RDSS2 sends the trackmaster data in its RAC files in 5's

Here is # 8 Take
I sent the top line from rdss2
then I hand entered the same line in line 2 and 3 but with a little change.
Since the first fraction was 22.5 we are not sure it it actually was
closer to 22.40 or 22.60 so here the same line will show 3 different readouts depending how the program interprets and round the fractions

The following is an excerpt from one of the guys in the other Sartin board:

"I agree with your observation that the variant is more of a class variant than track variant. As the DRF lumps all races at sprint and route distances with the variant appropriate to the distance structure Trackmaster doesn't. Also Trackmaster compares all races not to the actual race track but to a "virtual racetrack". I could never get understand if the raw time was for a sprint 21.3 44.3 109.3 the Equalized Normalize Adjusted time would be something like 23 46 111. And then a race with raw times of 23.3 46.3 112 would be adjusted to 22 45 111.2. This makes no sense to me.

When Doc worked with Trackmaster on the adjustments to make the DRF speed rating and variant compatible he stated that it was eighteen months of work. When Trackmaster changed their rating system in 2006 was the same amount of time given to see if DRF speed rating and variant still worked with Trackmaster? To my knowledge it wasn't. We just accepted that all was good.

As far as I'm concerned the 3yo best times with the speed rating and variant is still viable.

When I input data I have a better feel for the race. Yes it is more time consuming but the point is to make a profit and taking thirty to forty five minutes to do a card is worth it to me.

Again I asked if others aren't having success with Spec160 and / or Val4 take a look at hand entering. You may be surprised by what your finding is"

..................
I checked some Trackmaster files .exe files for Val4/Spec160 and had it converted to '.drf' files and compared it with Bris and HDW .drf files.I checked it on Aodds98 Super Gold ,as I presented the sample race from Tampa. The velocity numbers and rankings were different and inconsistent as compared to HDW's and Bris.I also checked it on other programs that uses .drf files like MPH,Taulbot's Pace Computer,Bob Pitlak's Sartin Pro and Workhorse.

energy

Hi Ray

Just to be clear . Do I have this right ?
Your taking the Trackmaster file that feeds Spec and Val4 .
You then send that file to a program that converts it to a drf.file .
Then you send that file to Aodds, then send it to Energy ?

Also when you hand enter lines into Energy 2, do you enter a speed rating and variant ? Energy2 does not use a variant. Don't you just enter the pace line and Energy makes its own variants

let me know
thanks
Bill

Hi Bill,

I have no problems when i used Val4.I think Ted did a good job with the coding after Trackmaster made the speed rating change in 2006.I would still be using Val4 today if i am with Trackmaster.
I just had some free time when i checked the conversion files and compared them with HDW.Yes,i exported the files to Aodds then to Energy 2 without manual input. The past performances showed the diffrences were in the speed ratings and track variants.

I have no problems with Val4 or Trackmaster.I'm just reporting what i saw.

I'm using a different software using HDW files. It has a very accurate probabilities and a very good odds likes.I have made the transition to value handicapping. It has put a few more coins in my pocket.
Thanks.
