TuP Race #8 Phoenix Club Gold Cup

Tomorrow is the "big" race day of the meet for Turf Paradise. Unfortunately, I can't go but I thought I'd put up the two biggest races here and under another thread. This one may be a foregone conclusion. Oh well, here goes.

There are frequently shippers form So. Cal. for this race as is the case this year. The surface is harder. They don't always win.

Looking at this race, I see the 2,3,9,10, and 12.

2: Has run well on dirt surfaces with a 3 call fight effort in his last. Can run from 2nd or 3rd position. Contender.
3: I see this horse as fighting for the lead with the 12. Contender.
9: Will be eaten up in 2nd fraction. Hasn't run as well since long layoff. Out.
10: Needs 22.1 loose which he won't get today. Out.
12: Early horse who won this race last year going 21.1. It could go that fast. Contender.

I'm left with the 2,3, and 12. I think the 3 and 12 will fight for the lead and the 2 will run OTE.

The 2 is my selection. I'll be very surprised if he goes off at anything close to the 4:1 morning line.

Hollendorfer didn't ship his horses. 2 and 9 are scratched.

Wow, that's huge for this race. In that case, I will go with the 12.

With the scratches, the 3 and 12 seem to be evenly matched. Based on the race last year, I think the 12 can handle the fractions the 3 might run. I think the 12 is more of a fighter.

I'm on the 12.

scratches by capcondo

Hi Tim,

TuP Race #8 Phoenix Club Gold Cup: How do you find out that horses 2 and 9 are scratched. I would like to know and, later we'll search for the Race Results.

Thanks,
DocSartinLearner (D.S.L.)

Since Hollendorfer did not ship his horses, the #12 horse LA Weekend will be the heavy favorite in this race, thus will not offer any wagering value...

#12 LA Weekend should dominate this sprint race as he is the best conditioned entry and has obviously pointed to this race as he is the defending winner from last year.

I might take a swing with the #1 horse sneaking in for the second spot...we'll see..

Good Skills

I think 10 has shown pressing capabilities and along with the 5 should be along to pick up pieces.

Race #8 Phx Club Gold Cup

A local wins this race at a big price from off the pace. Locals win this race more often than one would think. Here is the chart:
