The joys of wagercapping
I had a doctor's appointment, so I could only apply the BL odds to the morning line instead of tracking them on the NYC OTB channel.
I played the 6 and the 9 based on the overlay possibilities relative to the ML, discounting the marginally top-rated 10 as I felt that if anything, its post-time odds would be closer to 7-5 (actually went off at .75-1). Much of this thought process comes from what I read in Follow Up #76 on the subject of second and third tiered BLs and acceptable odds. Imagine my delight when the 6 won and paid $21.00! |

Congrats
I'm not one who normally likes to extract from routes, but the horse was well placed at the 6F portion of its routes and did have the best LPR in a field with several earlies. Also the top 3 BL scores were within .8 of each other, so it seemed like it was worth the other half of the wager.
Had I not had to make an appointment, I might have second guessed myself staring at the TV screen. Nice score last night for you. Charles |

Bet it
I have been betting and moving on
I hear you. If I look too long at the TV screens I used to either change my bet or hedge myself nuts If I could bet whole cards I would do like Doc and bet the late races first Thanks the Philly race was today |

It used to be that when I went to the track and hit early, I'd go home after putting in any other bets, this way I'd make sure some of the track's money would make it home with me. |

Philly
Post time most of the year is 12.25
When the days get shorter they start at 12.05 They go fast between races I used to tell people they didn't even move the starting gates |
