GP 1/14/18 11th race
Flying Emerald, a maiden 3YO F, is running in the 11th today at Gulfstream. Her M/L is 12/1 and while I usually don't bet maiden races, she might be worth a small wager for several reasons.
In her debut, a MC50, she showed an excellent late kick to outrun her 16/1 odds and finish third. It was impressive enough for her good trainer to move her up to MSW company this time. With that experience, she might improve second time out. And finally, Flying Emerald is owned by our friend Don E. aka "tazzerbobo". Don's on a cruise and won't be able to watch the race but I told him I would pull for her and cheer her on. |

Thanks for the heads up Mick. Hope she wins. Don E is a real classy guy who I spent some time with at Saratoga this yr.

Hi, Tim. I can quickly think of three reasons why you wouldn't go near this one, i.e. maiden race, multiple FTS, going up in class. How am I doing?
If you're near Lexington in April, come join us at Keeneland. Don, Julia and I will be in the Blue Cactus Cantina April 18, 19, 20. We always have breakfast at the Track Kitchen and enter through the back entrance. The Cantina is under the stands near the finish line. (I've spent enough time there to vote in that precinct.) |

Thanks for the invite Mick. Don't think I'll be down that way. I see Dr Z 2 yr old haasn't done much so far. Think she's 0-2 and been beaten pretty soundly.

She's run twice at AQU and not hit the board. Maybe she'll be a late bloomer. Pretty little filly. I still have photos of her on my iPhone from the evening we were out at Tom Morley's stables.

I took a look at this and with 10 minutes to go and the current odds my bets would be
7-9-11. The two with the best odds. Horses to beat are the 4 & 10. Mitch44 |

I played a small WPS wager on Flying Emerald for Don. She stayed in touch with the lead for a few furlongs but was eased down the stretch. That was a tough bunch and the winner finished like a missile!
