07-26-19 Testing A New Method

I am testing this new method on longshot races that were indicated to me from a publication (non Sartin related) I use on a daily basis. These are very difficult races by most standards.

I would look at the top 2 selections and consider only those horses that are 4 -1 odds or better at the gate, If there are 2 horses , I will bet both (1 unit for win, 2 units for place). If there are none pass the race. Hopefully, there will be at least one.

I am not a proponent of horizontal or exotics betting.
These type bets have, in most cases, a very large take-out.
This in my opinion, will, in the long run, deplete your bankroll.
They are big money makers for the track.


I have been taught, many years ago by some very astute handicappers and software providers that I knew in Las Vegas, that betting value to win is the best and only way to win. As you may know, over 95% of the betting public are losers. I would venture a guess at 98%.
I am sure there are those out there that will disagree with me and of course I respect your opinions.

My objectives are and have been, to show those that want to listen, a simple approach to win.
I will post my selections, discuss what I do to structure my bets and my selections but will not discuss the sources or products that I use
to come up with my contenders on this forum if they are not Sartin related.

I am sure we are willing to listen to anyone's ideas on this subject.
I am always willing to listen and learn.

mindset on betting, Although you and I disagree and horizontal betting.
We both have traveled down the road to winning for many years.
The ability to select and wait for value is just as important to you
in your win betting as my skill has progressed over time in with horizontals.
I agree with you. The pick 4, pick 5 and pick 6 payoffs are inticing. They
will destroy a bankroll, unless discipline and patience can be mastered
