There are no minimum bets. As long as you are within the above parameters you are good. The maximum bet following the rules would be $100 because you can't bet more than a $100 a day.

Go it, no minimum bets. I was hoping the min bet amount in any pools would be $2.00. This will force contestants to minimize the number of horses they pick in the exotics.

If the track offers pick 4 or 5 and other exotics for minimum $0.20, then contestants can spread with more horses.

In the spirit of Sartin and Bill, our contest has been about sharing our knowledge. With a $2.00 min bet it forces us to construct and money management our bets structure.

Just my thoughts and will play within the rules.

Clarifcation

Pook, If I were to play a .50 P-4 and if it were to pay 600.00,
would I get credit for the full amount since both the bet and the payoff are 4 times the min. bet and the minimum payoff which is 150.00 ?
The same holds for both the P-3 and the DD?

Pool Caps per $2 wager

Straight
Win $30
Place $15
Show $7

Verticals
Ex $60
Quin $40
Tri $90
Super $120
Hi-5 $150

Horizontals
DD $60
Pk3 $90
Pk4 $120
Pk5 $150
Pk6 $250

Rich,

I think you are confusing maximums with minimums. As you can see above the MAX for $2 in a Pk4 is $120. So .50 would get you $30 MAX. Your $600 payoff becomes $30. Not great and it gets proportionately worse the more exotic you get. While allowing players to bet on anything they wish, this is designed to stop huge exotic payoffs from skuing the contest.

It would make more sense to parlay your own bets across four races. Although you will probably run into the $100 per day bet cap.

The structure rewards picking winners as singles, or maybe doubles horizontally. Pk3’s maybe.

With verticals it is singles and exactors and maybe tris. Anything further out doesn’t really make sense. This adds a challenge in bet and money management that frees players from the same old win and place but reigns in huge exotic payouts.

I hope this clears it up for you.

Thanks

Thanks for clarifying.
You have made up my mind for not joining the contest.
I wish all the players good luck.

Before this contest starts since I am a total noob to this is the cap how much I can get per wager like $30 to win or how much you are restricting for how much a return would be so if my 15-1 shot wins I am only getting $30?

I feel like an idiot asking this question but just wanting to be 100% certain before I start posting my contest selections

Thank you, Pook

No problem Conley. Normally a 15-1 shot will return you $32 for a $2 bet. The cap for win is $30 per $2 bet, so anything north of 14-1 will be capped at the $30. Everything under 14-1 pays the posted prices of the track. A 10-1 horse will still get you $22. You will get the full value of the vast majority of your winners because not that many pay above $30.

???

Pook, you only answered part of Conleys question.
He asked how much he would be awarded if he bet 30.00 on a horse paying 30.00.
From the answer you gave me I assume everyone will only get the actual amount equal to a 2 dollar bet regardless of the payoff .

So if this is true everyone should only bet 2.00 on every bet.
IS this right

Rich, ODDS are capped at 14-1 for Win (and at other caps for other pools). The example used $2 for familiarity. If you bet $1 to Win - you get credited for $15 for that $1 bet. Or $30 for $2, or $1500 for a $100 bet.

If a Mutuel price is 20-1, you still only get a maximum of 14-1 price. If 10-1, you get the full 10-1 price.

The $2 wager caps apply to the Mutuel price, NOT to the payoff of your wager, which can be many multiples of the base price.

In Conley's example, betting $30 on a $30 payoff for $2 = 30 x $15 tickets for each $1 = $450 (or 15 x $30 for each $2 = $450 if you prefer).

You are right that he did ask what a $30 bet to win that paid $30 would pay.

At the top of the caps post it states Pool Caps per $2 wager
All the caps are for $2 bet. If he bet $30 on a horse paying $30 for a $2 wager he would get 15 x $30 = $450.

Does this perhaps change your mind?
