Thoughts on the Derby Trial

This race appears to me just like I quoted Mike in a different topic post.

"an early horse on the outside post insures a fast pace".

Looking at the pps I was wondering if, with Eightyfiveinafifty on the outside, can Hurricane Ike reverse the tandem or can Privilaged pull it out being FPLR?

Will prob play an action bet or two. $2 win on Priv. and Hur. Ike and maybe $1 ex box / tri box on these three.

What do you all think of the race?

Chris

Chris,

I'm looking ahead to next week. Pleasant Prince is one of few contenders that has performed well from 7 or 8 back, but he needs a win today to get into Derby. Derby has potentially 7 E's and 2 EP's. he needs to replicate Florida Derby form and could do this today.

I think this field with a lot of fast early 7 furlong types sets up well for him, with the 1-5-7 and 10 all pushing out early for what could be a killer first half of race. Only unknown is how any will handle the off (muddy) track. Might be good to see how races prior to this one get run and adjust accordingly.

Game On Dude is my upset special, a tandem from FD that also might capitalize on hot early pace.

Good luck today
