Zenyatta Returns - 2010

Looks like a workout for Z. She has 2 full Total Energy points in most of her races over every other horse.

Now, both Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra are nominated to the Apple Blossom Invitational at Oaklawn, April 9. Invitations issued March 24 - let's see who accepts. An added $5 million if both the these champs show up. That's a race I will tune in to!

Hey Ted,

No oranges in Arkansas, just apples.

The Blossom race will be a great one if they both make it. Reminds me of the olden days where two really great horses would go at it. The races today for their warm-ups should be good as well.

Just kidding on the fruit but did Barb not give you any growing up?

Bud

FYI Bud. We lived in the Niagara Peninsula when Ted was growing up. We could go and pick fruit fresh off the trees. Nothing like that today.

I can barely watch these races of Zenyatta (e.g. including Breeders' Cup Classic) because I get sooo excited to see a horse so capable of such dramatic late acceleration under almost any circumstances. And this race today had to qualify as just as much a nail-biter as the Classic.

I was encouraged listening to Jerry Moss afterwards saying they were certainly pointing towards Oaklawn's Apple Blossom April 9. That's very encouraging, that Z will finally break out of the synthetic track limitation moniker which has been hung around her neck. I suspect she is a horse for any course.

We can only hope Rachel Alexandra came out of her race today healthy, and that the owners don't shirk what the racing public and the casual public at large want to see. Our sport needs such a rivalry, but also such a capable champion as Zenyatta. 2010 could be a good year for horse racing.

Zenyata is a sensational race horse, and fun to watch as you observed. However, I wanted to thank her for presenting a great betting opportunity. Obviously, it was not the race she was in, but the fact that she made a great single in the Pick 4 that inabled me to go 4 deep in the other legs. The top RDSS contender in the last race won and paid a handsome $70+ leading to a $1240.40 Pick 4 payoff.
Hope we find something as nice in the upcoming Derby!

Congratulations Al! I must look further at Pick 3's and 4's in my own wagering.
