Well stated, Bill.

Contest play is very much like tournament poker because there are variables at play that normally don’t come up when playing for just cash profit. In contest play, all it takes is a SWAG longshot crashing the party and suddenly, you’re forced to open your range of playable horses in later contest races, because the lower paying runners aren’t going to help you. At least at the windows, you can shake off the loss and move on with the same game plan as the last.

Tim:
I agree that pace line selection is the key.....and each line selected must be checked out. I start with looking at BL/Bl auto selections, but always select my own pacelines (which can be the same as the auto selected line many times). I use the Doc's rules to select a paceline....although Ted has done a terrific job setting up the auto select, but there are lines now and then that should not be used. One example ( that is not in play right now) is the 6.5 downhill turf races at SA. Turf sprints at other distances and other tracks just don't equate. In any event, keep up the great work. I love the correlation opportunity, and I'll bet that Ted is sharing your "good skill". Al B.

Thanks Tim. Might have to pick up a copy if I get the chance to go to Saratoga.

Conley you would do well to pay attention to Charlies' picks. He does one hell of a job up there.
