Charlie:

Been a while since we heard from you.

Charlie and all others: Where can us Statesiders get any form of quality info on the European contingent in this year's BC races?

Does anyone record times, race positions or anything?

Anything would be helpful. RDSS does not report Time Form ratings so I can't use that, but I suppose I could breakdown and download the DRF info. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Bill

Hi Charlie, good to hear from you again!

Bill, just got off the phone with Jim Vanderbosch at TrackMaster. My understanding is that the TrackMaster/Equibase Speed Rating (shown on the RDSS Original screen) for European horses is a number on the same scale as for all North American horses. So, in the absence of other useful info, consider using these ratings, FWIW.

Jim told me they did a fairly extensive study during 2008 to attempt to fill the holes on comparative ratings for Euro horses (and other racing jurisdictions), and their tests show that with about a 97% accuracy, the rating given for a Euro runner's foreign races tends to be reasonably close to the Speed Rating ranges they eventually run here in North America.

Here are links to TrackMaster Blog entries on this topic, with some proofs offered:

http://blog.trackmaster.com/?p=1376 (Nov 2009)

http://blog.trackmaster.com/?p=13 (March 2008)

Noted that the TrackMaster SR is not a primary readout in RDSS, Spec or Val, but when you ain't got what you need, use what you got! Let's see what happens this year.

Cheers,

Ted

Hello All, (again from the UK!)

Charlie, do you prefer Charlie or Chas?

Bill, I feel like I am ready now with the Psychology of Winning. Funny, I've been reading it on and off for about a year and listening to the MP3 files, hearing everything, understanding everything, but not fully absorbing everything. I'm now starting to wonder if it was resistance on my part in one way or another.....

Finally, I've studied the document thoroughly. I have gone through and made summary notes that I have read and re-read. I believe I am there. I'm about to compile some track profiles and then carry out the 20 race self diagnosis test. One thing that I've decided to implement is the recording about how I feel about each bet, not just for 20 races, but forever. From this I'm going to put together information that will help me identify the finer points of what makes me tick or not over a protracted period of time. (These are dog tracks in the UK by the way, but I shall adapt the principles of Tom Brohamer as far as I can).

I'd just like to again say thanks for having this forum, without it I'd be carrying on as I used to.

Once I'm up and running I will move onto the Yellow Manual next.

My real name is Tony, which I'm now happy to share with you all. I had to use another name previously.........long story.

Hi guys

Dave, any i don't mind.

Bill

Because we are still in Dark ages over here so we don't have Fr1+Fr2+Fr3 info i'm afraid, however you could probably DIY via video replay i suppose.

The Timeform ratings are probably next best thing.

Sites a lot use for form over here (You may need to sign up to use replay )

http://www.attheraces.com/home/?ref=main+nav&nav=home (free video replay)

Some Replays for horses like Rip Van Winkle etc here on RUK Youtube Channel

Right now you got that, my opinion. The Euro horses that have real claims this year will probably be short prices so a throw out as win bets ynless your into betting chalk and those that are not short prices probably won't be good enough for win, so your only going to really including and bothering with Euro's if your playing Exotics

Hope this helps - Good Skill all

Just to give you a couple of examples of what i mean above

Rip Van Winkle is 7-4 with books over here - OUT, but needs to be included in exotics.

Mastery 2-1, looks a fair price, but not for me and i probably pass race, but include in Exotics, Pick 4, 6 bets

Conduit 11-8 and should take this race, but no real interest to me and i'll pass unless i'm playing Pick 4, 6 bets.

When we get to day of races, i'll try a give you similar heads up with a bit more detail on other Euro horses
