Hi, what do you know about Val 4?
Are you using RDSS? How did you come across your copy? What operating system are you using? Why do you want to use Val 4 instead of RDSS? Everything that is in Val 4 is in RDSS but RDSS is a much more stable program and is much easier to operate, Plus you get much better support If you can get Val 4 to work on windows 8 or 10 without way to much bother and a multitude of steps Go for it I know some folks can still make it work let us know Bill |

Easiest way to make Val4 work is to use it on a 32-bit Windows system. This way, you don’t have to rely upon DOS prompts. Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 32-bit editions will run Val4 with zero issue. However, if you try and run it in 64-bit Windows, you will run into headaches. DOSBox spits out weird errors when you try and operate Val4 in a 64-bit system so it’s not a viable solution. Easiest way (for me anyway) was to download a program called VirtualBox, find an install file for a 32-bit Windows XP, and install Windows XP as a virtual environment. You can get away with doing this on an 8GB RAM computer, but 16GB is optimal IMO.

Val4
Good morning!
Thanks for your reply. I have a RCA 2 in 1 laptop that can be used as a laptop or a tablet. Running windows 10 but it can run 32bit and 64bit programs. I don't have any problems running DOS programs. I had a very good friend that became ill and he gave me all his software. This included numerous Sartin programs and several RaceCom programs. The only program out of all of them that came with a manual was MPH by Brohamer. I lucked out and got the version with the auto paceline selector and Quirin pace figures. It says it uses trackmaster files but I have been able to use bris files with it. I have took a liking to val4 from all the post here, but have no manual or instructions. I was hoping to get either someone to tell me how to setup folders so that I could be able to start using the program or get some type of manual or instructions on using the program. I downloaded several trackmaster pp exe files but the program says no files found for that date. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tom |

good
Hi Thanks for the info
I hope others can help you as far as what file to use, I am afraid I am not much help with that. The reason being, it has been so long since I downloaded a file for Val 4 I can't recall which file it uses. When I use Val 4 I have RDSS export a file that goes right into a folder Val 4 needs called Trkmast I would try this .. install Val 4 onto your C drive Then make a shortcut and put the shortcut on your desktop. Now make a seperate folder on your C drive named TRKMAST When you download files, make sure they go into this TRKMAST folder the Val 4 and the download files should not be in the same folder The downloads go into a file called TRKMAST let us know how that works |
