My buddy Charlie

My good friend Charlie passed away yesterday. He posted here quite a bit in Hat's time here and more recently on big days like the Derby. He was a big executive at CBS and came "this" close to making a movie/documentary about the Hat. Jim really liked Charlie told me he was a true friend.

He is a great friend with a heart of gold inside that rough and tough exterior. Quick story when I was taking care of my Mom over a decade ago I was "away" from home for a few days because of a mistake I made. I was worried sick cause there was nobody around to look after Mom. When I came home my neighbor told me a big man had come to the house every morning and was looking after Mom taking her outside for some air etc. He described Charlie to a "T" and to this day Charlie never told me what he had done for Mom. He just did it. I never mentioned I knew of what he had done, just loved him even more because of it!

RIP Charlie

Those who give back rise above all others. Charlie was and is " Above the Rest."
May he rest in peace.

Dear Richie

I am so sad to hear this news about your dear friend Charlie,
I know what a good friend he was to you . I remember him as a very early contribute
to VD C messenger and Pace and Cap

He and I talked often back then, and I could tell from his wit and jokes he would surely fit in with our crowd " at the table"

Rest in peace Chralie R.

Wow, that is so sad to hear about Charlie We talked a number of times and a number of years ago when Mum and I went to visit Richie and his Mum in new Rochelle, Charlie and his missus took us to a real old fashioned Italian joint for dinner - it was like something out of a movie.

he also put together all these ridiculously powerful and complex computer systems - a renaissance man.

He was a big man and had a big heart, and that was one of his specialties in this life - generosity of spirit.

Go in peace!

Ted

Richie, I've lost several close friends in recent years and can appreciate the pain you must be feeling. I am very sorry.

OH MY. Rich just phoned me this afternoon about Charlie. Although I only met him in person once when Ted and I visited Rich and his Mom, as Ted said; he and I continued to keep in touch over the years. He was my 'go to' guy for security on my computers. I knew he hadn't been up to snuff this past while, but I didn't think it was that bad. I know he will be very sorely missed by Rich. They have been 'best friends' for years - witness the story told by Rich.
Go in peace my friend knowing you are well loved.
