Gold Cup at Santa Anita : mile and 1/4 distance

What was the Hollywood Park Gold Cup is now called the Gold Cup at Santa Anita.

There are eleven horses entered for race #9 (post time approx. 5:45pm PT)

There are two proven Grade One winners on dirt in this race. Moreno who barely lost the Travers as a three year old colt to Will Take Charge at today's distance and Hoppertunity who won the Clark at Churchill last November.

I narrowed this field to four contenders in my opinion.

Motown Men- last pace line
Moreno- last pace line
Catch a Flight- last pace line
Hoppertunity- line four yes... Line fourrrrr

My analysis of this race shows that they might not go as fast for the early pace so a closer like Hoppertunity might get compromised even though this one has the top sustained pace line .

My two picks are Motown Men and Hoppertunity.

Thanks for the moral support!!! Mowen...

The photo finishes are part of this game. Sometimes, the camera is kind to us and sometimes, the chips fall on the other side. I got lucky last year in the Breeder's Cup Classic when Martin Garcia on Baffert's Bayern slammed Moreno coming out of the starting gate but the stewards allowed the finish to stand.
