2007 Year In Review
For me it was another losing one.
Win +12.00 Exotics- minus over 200.00 I guess someone up there is trying to tell me something.I dont expect much feedback here as I know people like to keep their betting personal. But I like to be open about stuff so why not. LOOKING AHEAD 2008 1)try just win betting(this will be tough) 2)stop using Sartin programs just cant grasp the concept 3)get back to trainers angles(Taulbot) and using speed and pace figures Hope all of you fared better then me this year. 2007 Wagering Records:
Win betting all day tracks = (-) $2,745.00 Win betting all night tracks = (+) $16,115.00 Win betting all tracks = (+) $13,370.00 Hours spent posting, capping, tote watching, betting = 3,432 (yes I keep records) Hourly wage (dividing hours into profit) = $3.89 (Poverty level man) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 2008 Plan: 1) Look at myself in the mirror EVERY morning. Reality check time. 2) Be the best person I can be each and every day 3) Reduce hours spent involving racing (posting, capping, tote watching, betting) to 800 for the YEAR. I believe I now have the tool needed to accomplish this. 4) Spend much more quality time mentoring/counseling young men about to graduate from the facility that gave me a second chance at life in 2002. 5) Get to Tulsa before the Kentucky Derby runs this year. 6) Make time to meet Bill often and enjoy his company instead of this phone/email **** Richie

I was ahead $226.00 for the year I did not break down between win place show and exacta bets I used my online account most of the time I bet win place show about 90% of my bets My wager account on 1/1/2007 started at $112. Its low point was $23.00 It peaked yesterday after race 5 at Santa Aniata at $345.00 I have been doing very well and went up very nicely since November. At the Breeders cup I was at $257.00. I fell back down to $223.00 and finished at $338.00 Thanks RK Last edited by simon; 01-01-2008 at 11:15 AM. |

Win bets minus $78 betting 90% of the time 1 horse per race. 3rd year in a row about breaking even.Reviewing my betting I see that I bet on way too many horses over 20 to 1 , and I rushed ( 5 minutes per race)my handicapping too many times. My good days I always did a lot of pre race handicapping at home before I went to the track. In the past when I used to bet exactas , Trifectas etc. I always lost over a $1000 a year, after 15 plus years hitting my head against the wall doing this I finally quit all exotic betting. Now I pay no attention at all on what any exotic bet pays. 2008. Goals. Learn the matchup method. Get really good at assigning running stlyes to the horses. This is very important. Set up guidelines as to which races should be avoided like the plague. Only bet when I feel like I have a horse with a strong advantage. Don't let the odds sway me. Mike. |

Sorry Jeff
I kind of felt 20 race cycles and ave win mut. was old news I had a slow year betting wise I mostly did research and practiced what I read in manuals and follow ups again I felt like this was old news I only did 7 20 race cycles I won on 6 of them with a ave mut. of $12.70 The cycle I missed I lost $12.00 of the $80 I would have bet at $4 per race I really bet very few Exactas and have no idea how I did but I would say I lost money there I got very lucky once with a $57.00 winner that I hit repeat bet by mistake and had it w/p twice I Last edited by admin; 01-03-2008 at 08:25 AM. |

Good idea to keep records Shoe. All I know is my net worth went up, so I did not get hurt. Looks like no one else did either .Had some good months, not many bad.
Starting a spreadsheet for 2008. Got some good ideas from the responses here what to include . Playing all bets, depending on the race. Had 3 IRS tickets last year and 4 in 2006. they are a real pain to try and offset . Rarely go to the track anymore, too easy, and comfortable from home. And the food ,wine , and animals are better. Oh yeah, wifey too. she is a sweetheart. BobP BobP |
