Keeping in mind that this is a handicap with high weights preferred - 2-4-11, and the fact that there are at least 6 or 7 dedicated early horses, this is an OTE race. The 11 has been off about 10 months and the 2 does not competitive turf sprints, so my pick is the 4.who has laid off very fast paces in the past.
I have a little program the averages moves made at the 3 calls, shows the positions gained or lost and the number of lengths made up or lost - see below You really cannot compare 5 furlong turf adjusted speed ratings but the 4 and 11 have run 88 or better at SA and no one else has run better than 85(the 8 horse as it happens) . The 8 is my 2nd choice and you can see how it moves in the screen shot, but you can also see that the 4 finished closes to the top of all the presser or later horses (2.2). The 9 is a ? - mark having only run one turf sprint from off the pace, whereas all its dirt races were from on the lead. My top 3 are going to be 4-8-11. Let's get a price going here. Hope you East Coast nite owls stay up late to collect on this race. |

Bill L
Well nobody scoped out last nights winner, Although Bill L's program
looks like it identified the 3 with a good position linescore Yet it had a great kick to win from way back ? Bill it looks like you just did not go down to the 4th ranked 3 is this correct / Thanks for the screen shots |

Well,I had him as part of the early contingent, what with an E8 speed point rating, plus I was convinced that his style had changed and I was not too enamored that he had not raced in over a year. Also 3 almost year long layoffs so that his five starts went back to 2013.
Then at the start, he was absolutely left at the gate. The race had to be over, but little did I know.. Next race please......please |

what to do next?
Hey Bill
I wonder what their next step will be. The next time it runs the pace line will have a very big 3rd fraction rating will they have a natural early horse trained to now run sustained ? Or is the race unindicative even while winning? |
