Pace and Cap Day - Sunday August 23 (Saratoga)
Lets see if we can get together at Saratoga
and Delmar Last year we had a great weekend Lets do it again ! I know its hard to book rooms and places to stay so lets see if we can get things going Also Last year we were very fortunate to be able to gather at the same time Paceadvantage had a group It would be nice to arrange the same time as them As there are many of you who read and know peole from both groups Some ideas I have discussed with Ted is a mini seminar maybe on Friday night and a day at the races on Saturday and Sunday Also I would really like to get a collection going to have a race named after Howard Sartin and Jim Bradshaw I have inquired about this and its not cheap Maybe some body can talk to some sponsers I thought maybe since the 2008 Pace and Cap tee shirts were so popular, I could make a 2009 The Race Of Thier Live Times version and use the sales to help with the cost of the race Lets meet and win . Hi Bill
Thxs to bringing this up now...yes it does get tough to book Saratoga The meet is 36 days, July 29-September 7 OK...from the years I've been going it is the best time to go is after The Travers, crowds diminish and you can breath and get bets in... But this year , The Travers is late...AUG 29...I usually go the next weekend and catch Labor Day which gives us a 3 day weekend which makes it Sept 4-7. I know its late but what do u guys think? Mike

I continue to favour Saturday August 22 - Alabama Day. I hope to be there, like last year for part or all of that week. Last year I stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott, near the Albany Airport - 20 minutes south of Saratoga on the Intertstate. $99/night I think. For the seminar part, perhaps I can get a meeting room there for Friday evening, i.e. with internet connection, projector, refreshments. Or something in Saratoga, but it could be busy...
Charlie Bedard booked seats in the outside tents, and I think could do it again (if I can reach him...). Charlie also had some seats (and friends with seats) at the 1/8th pole which folks revolved through - great race-watching! Thanks Charlie! Would 12 seats in the tent be enough (technically 2 picnic tables, a bit of a squeeze - start your diets now...). Seats cost $10 each last year. What about the Sunday as well? Members from PaceAdvantage meet in the same location during that week, and there's a certain amount of cross-connection / good-will and great handicappers and fine fellows. If there's a good case for an earlier or later weekend - then OK. The following weekend is Travers Stakes August 29, and sure to be a zoo. Let's try to get something settled, such as we're able, by the end of this weekend. Ted

I live near Phoenix, Arizona. I'm planning a trip to upstate New York and New England in late summer or fall. I'd certainly like to be part of the group at Saratoga. I would vote for labor day weekend but will go no matter what the group decides.

Thxs Bill....which hotel your staying and will Ted have a meeting place there too?
I always booked Lake George for the wife and kids, this time I'll take a room in Albany so that my wife can find new places to shop and we can get better restaurants to eat.. and that I hang out with you guys... mike

Tips for your trip
Hi Guys...
just a little notes for your trip here.. 1) BOOK NOW!!!.....as closer you get to Aug, rooms will be fewer 2) with associated Marriott Hotels you have untill 6PM , of your arrival date, to cancel...so what does that mean...between a few days or weeks before you can go to hotels.com, cheaptickets.com or even priceline.com to get a cheaper room...but priceline doesnt give the name of the hotel 3) go here http://www.restaurant.com/index.asp?...fqquggod8wwkjw for discounted gift cards for nice restaurants(the menu is viewable) NOTE:check for exclusions..might be fri/sat enjoy and see u there!! mike P.S.- I'm staying at the SpringHill Suites Albany 21-24
