Question & Suggestion
Ted,
Suggest addition of race class rating along side the Perceptor Total on the Primary screen. This would help in deciding how the horse ran against different levels of compitition. Just what does the Deceration/Entropy symbol mean? Is that where the horse would rank on the composite screen of of the Entropy progam? Froggy |

If Ted could do that, add the race class to other readouts would be helpful for me too
The E symbol is The Greek Sigma figure Greek Sigma But Doc says its the Greek Symbol Epsilon Epsilon The Entropy in the advanced readout is probably calculated the way the final sort is on Entropy If RDSS or any of the advance programs that have the entropy readout as part of the supplementary readouts used the same algorithms as Entropy and if the other Sartin programs gave you the readouts from the raw pace lines not adjusted, They would be the same figures most of the time. I bet there would be be some slight variation If I looked but I don't compare programs I look only at one at a time But using Entropy from 1991 and matching it to the way RDSS and Spec or Val 4 sees it it going to be different too Last edited by Bill V.; 12-05-2008 at 05:03 AM. |

I'll take a look at adding the Race Class readout to the Primary Screen. Re the Σ Sigma symbol (used for the 'Entropy' readout caption) - although I don't have access to the specific Deceleration Composite formula from Entropy, I'm positive this is NOT IT. In Validator, Speculator and RDSS, the Entropy ranking in the Supplementary section of the BL/BL screen is a blending of Deceleration and the BL score. In turn, Deceleration (also ranked on the BL/BL screen under the DCL caption) is simply the ratio of F3 velocity to 2nd Call velocity, shown on the Velocity screen. I call this 'simple' Deceleration to distinguish it from the more complex Velocity/Deceleration (V/DC) readout. (The DCL 'Deceleration' readout per se was not displayed in Validator). Thus, the Entropy readout (of Val/Spec/RDSS) tempers simple Deceleration with the effect of the Line Score of Primary factors, represented as the BL score. A horse may have a great DCL (relative to the other horses) but if that horse is simply slow to the 2nd call and slowed down not too badly in its 3rd fraction, that could over-rate it against another horse who slowed down more in its F3 but ran against a much faster Pace of Race. The latter would likely be higher rated in BL/BL (and Total Energy), and that BL composite value would affect its Entropy rating accordingly. The Entropy Composite rating (from the old Entropy program) evolved into V/DC: a fractionally compounded Deceleration relative to Velocity, tempered also by the BL score. VDC is a measure of Deceleration during the race segments relative to how fast the horse was going during those segments. If you want to pay attention to (roughly) the same thing as shown in the old Entropy program (only better), V/DC is it. Ted

Ted,
Hmm! There is much to ponder. Froggy |
