Spot plays for Sat., Oct. 24

Just a few thoughts at Belmont and Keeneland. Only one race at Keeneland due to turf races being taken off the grass. Good luck to all.

Belmont Park

Race 6: 5-7-2-3

5--Cultural Value: won the 7 fur Bouwerie at Belmont in late June by many lengths. Primed for this after a hanging 3rd when beaten just 1 1-2 lengths in quick time.

7--Mrs. Orb: comes in off two rallying seconds and seems to get better this time of year.

2--Ratajkowski: Probable favorite is the inside speed and loves Belmont Park. At 2-1 or so I want to think she is better going two-turns.

3--Makingcents: Uncoupled mate to top selection. Comes in off game 9-furlong win at Saratoga. Did win her last two mile races by daylight.

Race 9: 7-2-3-5

7--Spin a Yarn: Been fabulous in 6-race career, winning five plus a second when beaten a half-length. One to catch under boot and scoot(ch) Carmouche.

2--Officer Hutchy: seeks third straight and last race at Saratoga was very fast throughout. Could get same race setup but lone worry is she must carry six pounds more today.

3--Fair Regis: Another that wants a contentious battle early. Had legit trouble last out going 6 furlongs and will be a decent price.

5--Prairie Fire: Comes back in two weeks --a quick turnaround these days--and can't be overlooked. Won 2-back at today's 6 1-2 fur distance.

Race 10: 5-3-2-7

5--Bank It: Had two subtle tough trips last two starts. Was beaten just 3 lengths in Gr. 3 Ack Ack at CD when wide while the winner skimmed rail. Two back at CT was far back on speed favoring evening when 4th. Bank It made up ground both times and is the choice today at 6-1 morning line odds.

3--Funny Guy: Will appreciate both a class drop and additional distance today after facing rugged graded sprinters last couple. One to beat at preferred route distance.

2--Mr. Buff: Beaten double digits against the likes of Improbable and Tacitus last two. Inside speed and state breds make gelding feared foe. Additional 6 pounds hurts.

7--Sea Foam: Never been better winning last two against softer. Might not get the easy lead today.

Keeneland

Just one selection because the turf races were moved to the main track. The other races didn't interest me.

Race 3: 9-8-1-7

9--Reason to Soar: Is the best closer in a race loaded with early speed. Sharp win last at CD a month ago while earning a very good figure.

8--Laddie Boy: Was gaining in the stretch last time but had to check yet was still beaten just a length. Another good closer in a race loaded with early speedy types.

1--Ghostly Who: Was a boom 7-length winner in last on Oct. 9 when claimed and comes 'right back'.

7--Warrior's Lullaby: Strictly a call to make the trifecta and s-fecta. Has high early speed and has won at Keeneland.

Hope all your bets are winning ones.
