How Will Your Horse Run Today

I picked up a used copy of this great book
in a truck stop book exchange
I have been rereading it and really enjoy this great book by Wm. Scott
Unfortunatly I missed the Belmont as my exciting day of getting my new promotion and my new truck had me running around in circles all day

anyway here are some plus marks for our Belmont winner right out of the book

1 within 28 days
2. Plus running line last line
3. Second place finish
4. Gain of 3 Horses or Bl from one call to next
5. BULLET 5 furlong workout within 7 days and also since last race
within 28 days

Thank You Ted for adding marks and readouts that aid in the

Hi Bill...

I had this book a long time ago but the over all results weren't too good.
Yes this race you got $28 bucks but most others you'll get odds on or worse.
Do the cycle test for yourself and let us know.

Hi Mike. No cycle is needed here.
If you follow the guidelines from the book and focus on the top 3 betting choices
You will have a tough time making much money But throughout the book
Mr Scott points out that often the long price horses that win that are not in the
Top r choices have the plus factors most winning horses have and horses that lose
At stupid short odds fail because they lack the pluses

You're welcomed Bill. The current form rules embodied in that book were actually the first computer program for race analysis I attempted way back when. There is much of that which is not (yet) in RDSS, and I'm pretty sure it does not constitute a complete methodology, but I almost always consult workout patterns, recency, frequency, length gains and losses when I try to figure how a horse will run today.

Good find at that truck-stop!

Ted

"Oldie,s but goodie,s"

His other book; Investing at the race track

Has a chapter about "NEGATIVE" favorites, that I still employ, and is very viable!!

Another oldie "shrouded" by time is Mike Fiore,s HOW to rate the horses
Last time Ibrought this book up Iwas roundly dumped on here on this sight
by someone who has never even heard of this work.It is extremely complex and time consuming 45mins+ for 1 race. Ibought this book at smiths news stand in LA in 1977, the same place doc SARTIN went to when he was new to the game, and asked the owner there out of 100,s of books he had there what was the best, and dont give me any BS,he told me mike f.book ,it is hard bound about 250 pages, out of print now but a few years ago Ifound a old one at vegas,s gamblers book club and snatched up.
Anyway back in those days there was no simulcast and Ihad to take a bus to DEL MAR everyday,to work the races, anyway one of the "2 top picks run 1st or 2nd 90% of the time. IF THIS METHOD OUTLINED IN THIS BOOK COULD BE COMPUTERIZED,ALL ELSE WOULD TAKE A BACK SEAT. Come on now lets hear all the negativety now from the uninformed, greenhorns.

That is the one

The publisher later made him change the title for some reason.
It deals heavily in pace of race+pace of horse and how the horse reacts to it
M.Fiore was a proffesor in the miami area and held handicapping seminars at Calder for years, his pace charts are all out of date now,but make no mistake this is the best book ever written "PERIOD AND OF STORY"!!
ASK ME HOW I KNOW.

Good move

I always thought you were a smart guy.
I still have the original one but it is worked over real good! I bought the 2nd
one as a back up. His pace charts are based on calders surface back in the
mid-70,s but could be updated, and used anyplace in North am.
His method is timeless, the only matter that has changed is his recency
guidelines, due to the modern T-BRED being more fragile than than the old
days, for instance lay-offs that came back from a 60+day layoff and ran a tough 1st race back, are much more likely to regress than they were in the past, heady trainers now are likely to give anywhere up to 5 weeks recovery time to duplicate are improve on that come back race. I.M.O. he goes beyond
DOCS anaylisis of pace, any help I can be if your book is missing anything Ican copy and send to you, Be prepared to spend some time to absorb this book,it is not like these modern books that just gloss over subjects, and leave you like AH what do Ido now?? It jumps in to the deep end of the pool, but will give you a complete method, and rating method, probably why the modern cappers have no interest in this book,it IS NOT FOR THE LAZY!!!
any help I can be let me know. jdadawg@gmail.com
