A friend pointed out to me that of the three Handicaps all were won by horses running in the top 3 all the way around the track, i.e., early.
The only winner that was not a high weight, at Aqueduct, ran a close 2nd early. The two remaining hi weights ran 8-9 until they closed for 2nd and 3rd Big Cap h/w ran 1-2 all the way In the Tam 6 Hcap two of the h/wts ran 3-2 early and finished 1-2. |

Changing leads?
Hello everyone!
I have a question for everyone here How do you look at a race to see if horses change leads? I never knew the answer to that question and how it can relate to past performances Thanks Papa John |

As far as past performances are concerned, it is possible that a horse did not change leads in a race, causing it to tire, but that is not published as a part of the past performances.

John Veitch always maintains that the reason that affirmed won the triple crown was that alydar did not change leads properly.
