Speculator Section

I have been here only a few times and remember that there was a Speculator section. Why is there no place for Speculator here?

Ex.

Hi
Its my fault I took the speculator area
away because there was a few post that were mistaken and misunderstood
Many people got involved in what turned out to be nothing but at the time caused some problems
Pace and Cap is about all programs so I really sould start up a nother area

It would be nice because this board does support better graphics than the Yahoo format, and after that beacon thing with Yahoo plus there is nothing at Sartin Alumns going on anyway.

There's plenty going on in SartinAlums

Last time I checked there was a lively discussion about e/l at AQU, problems handicapping LAD and other topics. The group is quite lively and it does have a ton of material on Speculator.

Why?

Why does there have to be an area for a certain program? Charlie uses Spec and I dont think he feels "shorted" in any way. However I don't want to speak for him.

So then do we need a "fast fred" area? "Pace Appraiser" area? "K-19" area ? How bout a "Pino area" for his dynamic program? u get my drift.

Correct me if I am wrong but Shoeless ( who STARTED this group with Bill's help btw) wanted an area where all programs and methods could be tolerated, discussed, questioned equally.

Suggestion:

Post about anything you want to using any software you want to. It is all good here. At least so far. Why mess with a good thing?

regards
Richie

Actually I don't think we need a separte section for Speculator however it would be helpful to have a files section for Spec to get some help from.
There just doesn't seem to be enough written information that helps with the use of the program. I was composing a list of questions for Guy but at this point I guess those will go unanswered. Some of questions may be answered by users of the earlier programs. I am not sure.

I think Speculator is a really good program but hard to master for a first timer like me. I'm not sure when I'll actually get good at this but I keep working on it. If we measure it by my results Tuesday at Mountaineer it may take a decade or two! One thing I am pretty sure of is there is no reason that this prorgam can't be ported over to Windows by a good Visual Basic or C++ Programmer. It woudln't/shouldn't change the program but it would make recording post race information a lot easier.

I made a posting responding to Exacta's original post and agreed with him but I really didn't mean a separate section of the board, only a file area for instructions on use of the program. I guess the post never made it.

I don't know if you keep track but the next Windows version is about six months away. Called Windows Vista. XP will stay around for a while more as they are working on SP3 which should be available by end of year. Not sure abotu the ability of Vista to run DOS programs at this point.

Hey Exactas:

First off welcome to the board

In reading my post I just wanted you to know that you ask a valid question.

There WAS an area before. It was removed mostly due to a mistake that I had made. Poor judgement for sure on my part. Binder had no real choice otherwise things would have gotten out of hand even further ok?

It was my fault and I am sorry for that being the reason it is not here.

ok

Once again welcome and I hope you take something good from the site.
