Thanks Dick and Ted. Very good presentation. Would it be possible to do another video showing turf races?

Sure, we can ask Dick for an example of a Turf race in the webinar. We were thinking of working a couple of illustrative past races and a live race Tuesday evening from PEN or MNR.

One of the overall things I got so far from several times talking with Dick, is his inclusion of positional Running Style and the accumulation of Early/Quirin Speed Points (QSP) as a means to shade the race as Early/Other Than Early (OTE) - a means to apply the Matchup and thus discount ratings which might otherwise mislead you into thinking that a non-Early horse is going to do something that its energy-based numbers would have you think.
He's not dismissing energy-distribution ESP, indeed he used that as a confirmation of his estimate of the E/OTE bias. I know some might ignore or at least de-emphasize the positional measurements in favour of energy measurements. But that's a foundation of the approach he's taking (and with great respect to Bradshaw, as well as Sartin). Made me think about whether some caveats might be in order in the screen calculations for supposed Early Segment leaders who are outright Sustained horses who will likely never challenge for an early lead. Or at least, warrant a ?? marker to make you look twice at such a contradiction. Ted

Ted, this approach is meshing well with my philosophy of having many ways of viewing the pace and match-up scenarios. Dick's suggestions are giving more insight as to how to utilize various tools. I find that by looking at pace in many ways, some will point up the strength or weakness not always readily apparent.

Excellent presentation. So true about deciding how the race will run and subsequently which horses can be disregarded for win. Makes all the difference when you can confidently throw out whole groups of them no matter what the numbers say.
Thanks for the video. Pook |

Here is the recording of the webinar: http://www.sartinmethodology.com/vid...Dick.Werpy.mp4
Thank you Dick, and thanks to all who attended live! Hopefully we learned a little about applying the Matchup using the RDSS tools. Feel free to post any follow-up questions here. Ted
