While my heart is with Zenyatta to win, my heart was with Big Brown to win the Belmont and not going with the pace output cost me the almost 100K super. Ouch! Good luck to everyone today! |

Much as I like the Z-girl I'm making a bet on #1 to win the race.

Here is a replay of the Classic:
I had a small Breeders' Cup party at home with another couple (new horse-race fans?) and we were all jumping out of our skins with excitement. Despite the loss by inches, I think it was probably Zenyatta's best race, certainly no less dramatic, maybe more so, than last year's Classic. Blame is a very good horse and provided me with some thrilling runs and some nice bets this year, so zero disrespect. But in 2 years, I'm thinking I (and hopefully millions of others) will remember Zenyatta more than we'll remember Blame. Her style, her heart and her temperament have been so endearing. Personally, I can count on 2 hands now the number of friends and acquaintances who have paid way more attention to this sport (and strange hobby/vocation of mine) due to the 60 Minutes piece and the hoopla of Zenyatta and the BC Classic. It all starts there. My touting of Zenyatta to win didn't help them cash a ticket (though my exacta box with Blame and QR did). Overall, I broke even on the 2 days ( worse than about a half dozen folks who wrote to me so far - think: Shared Account, Awesome Feather, Blame...) A good weekend for horse-racing. Now, back to Finger Lakes! Ted
