Problem downloading RDSS to new laptop

Ted,
Just got a new laptop with win 10s.

When I tried to download RDSS to it, got the error message.

Tried right click and all I got was the little window that said "select all, print, and read aloud.

Any suggestions?

Froggy, I presume you are using the default Microsoft Edge browser in your new Windows 10 computer. Normal URLs (web links) including the RDSS download link - respond when you right-click them with a pop-up menu which includes 'Open in new Tab' and 'Open in new Window' - in addition to the Print and Read Aloud options.

If you don't get those 'Open ...' menu options when you right-click the download link - your browser is not displaying the web page normally (and I don't know why, but maybe Google knows). Here are 2 suggestions:

1. Check the email I sent you with the RDSS download alternate link. Your browser might not enforce the same security precautions when the link comes from your email software (??).

2. Try downloading and using a different web browser. Try Chrome or Firefox.

Let me know by email how it went and if you need more help.

Ted

Win 10 S

The link wouldn't work.

I found explorer by typing the name in the search box and then it would download.

Then had to figure out how to get the computer out of Win 10 S mode and into Win 10 mode.

I think things are going to work now.

Off to the race book to try it out.

Thanks a million,

FROGGY

Well, Win 10 S mode - that explains it:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/...-in-s-mode-faq

RDSS will not run in S (Secure) mode, let alone download or install.

I suspect that when you are in regular Win 10, you can run whatever browser you like.

Good luck at the race book today!

Ted

Here (most popular entry in RDSS FAQs ) : http://paceandcap.com/forums/showpos...7&postcount=17

TrackMaster/Equibase used to be helpful and point folks to that solution so folks would not waste too much time. Now they just say 'it's not us'.
