trackmaster download into val4

Greetings,

When I download from TM, the files are not showing downloaded in
Val4.

I think my download path from TM is not correct.

Any help would be appreciated in solving this problem.

I am using Windows 7 pro xp modeand dosbox.

Are you sending the download files to a separate folder,named trkmast?
Also I use windows 7 pro virtual machine,xp mode and then I can just run val 4
as is without dos box

Thanks for the reply. I have a trkmast folder on my desktop.

However, when I download a file from TM, the file does not show in
my TM foler.

I donload a race card from TM the file shows up in downloads not
trkmaster foler.

Do I need to do something to change the download path from TM?

The trkmast folder has to be on the same drive as the val 4 folder,not you desktop,
I have both, the val 4 and trkmast on my c drive ,but they are 2 separate folders

Bill,

I have 2 separate folder on c rive for both. If you would explain
your steps in downloading from TM, that would be helpful.

The first and only window I get ater downloading a race from TM
is to run or cancel the download. The file show up in computer downloads folder.

hi John,
Right click,save link as,chose the folder that you want to put the file in.
Or move the file to the folder that it needs to be in c: drive trkmast folder,
Val 4 looks for it there,or in xp modes c drive. my Val 4 works in windows 7 ultimate.
is this common for most win 7 computers,have you tried yours without xp mode.

Thanks for your help . I have been downloading with RDSS for years I actually forgot
the steps of how to down load the files right into val 4/ trkmast :}

I just have rdss2 make and send the files automaticly to my trakmast folder
Val 4 works on my net book with windows 7 starter
as is .

When running Val4 in Dosbox, you 'mount' a folder as a drive when you load Dosbox. Load Dosbox, then type: mount C C:\VAL4 (presuming you have Val4 installed in a folder named Val4 on your Drive C, aka C:\VAL4). Presumably you know this already because you can get Val4 to run.

The above means: inside Dosbox, 'Drive C' actually means: the Val4 folder on your C drive (or C:\VAL4). THUS - since Val4 (or any Sartin program which uses TrackMaster download data) looks for its download files on folder C:\TRKMAST - AND since Dosbox makes the Val4 folder look like Drive C to programs running inside it - THEN, for Val4 to find its TrackMaster files, you must actually place them in a sub-folder of C:\VAL4 named TRKMAST (or - C:\VAL4\TRKMAST and NOT C:\TRKMAST, which Dosbox does not know about). Then when Val4 looks for TrackMaster files on what it thinks is C:\TRKMAST, it is ACTUALLY looking in the C:\VAL4\TRKMAST folder).

Summary: place your downloaded Trackmaster files in a folder named C:\VAL4\TRKMAST. Use Peteman's instructions above to get your downloads into that folder. Then Val4 running in Dosbox will find them.

(I think I would have written out these instructions in the Notes I provided when I sold you Validator4).

Hope that works (I tried it and it still works for me :-)

VAL4\TRKMAST is not working for me

VAL4 is on my C drive and TRKMAST is inside VAL4
