DRF: Are they finished?

https://www.horseraceinsider.com/dai...m-up-for-sale/

Sucks that they got rid of Bryon King, one of the best handicappers I think that did selections for Daily Racing Form at any track he was capping. They also let go Mike Watchmaker, who did contribute to good write ups on stakes action races and other key things. Another face gone from the paper is young handicapper Matt Bernier, who was a man I looked up to for being so young and doing well when he did the podcasts.

I hope that that they do not get rid of the paper as Timeform or Brisnet would be the next best.

I clicked on your link. First of all this is a rumor and until official is meaningless.

The Racing Form as far as a handicapping sheet is nothing but a rag and an expensive one at that, which is long past going under. Yes a shame for those that are employed there however the company has to be profitable to employ them. The paper has continually gone up in price without any innovative new ideas and is far surpassed by other products such as Bris for handicapping purposes. The overwhelming majority are buying it for the purpose of handicapping and not to read the editorials. When a product doesn't fulfill the need the customer goes elsewhere.

To answer your title, yes they were finished long ago.

I haven't bought a printed DRF in a long, long time. When I was at Monmouth two weeks ago, I saw some for sale. I think my jaw dropped when I saw the price - $11.

I agree with Mitch. Our primary interest is the information with which we can handicap races. The articles are incidental, although I'll confess I have enjoyed the occasional DRF article (and I loved Andy Beyer's columns in the Washington Post and later DRF).

But as George Harrison sang poignantly, "All Things Must Pass."

Are they finished?

Hey guy's the DRF is the rag I use to do my handicapping.

There is a cheap version and the $11 version. I use the $11 dollar version.

So far the price has been irrelevant.

you can get good pp's from Brisnet and if you bet $2 on any race you get the pp's for FREE. Doesn't get any better than that.
