Ray Taulbot died in December of 1969, and was 74 years old at the time. He last lived in Camden New Jersey.

Taulbot's name has been absolutely bastardized by his former employer, American Turf Monthly, who keep him alive by printing rewrites of his articles regularly in their magazine. It wouldn't suprise me a bit if some of the articles he was supposed to have written were ghosted by somebody else. It's a pity, because the man knew handicapping long before anybody else had a clue about it.

The Doc said once that ATM had him stuffed and sitting in their lobby!
Jim the Hat said Dick Mitchel tried to take him out to lunch!

I miss those seminars when those two got going.

Handicapping The Talbott Method!!

All,
I thought, I had an e-bay suggestion for you guys! However, when I saw the spelling of Talbott, I checked further and this was not Ray Talbot but a
different person.
I'll keep looking and if I find something worthwhile, I'll post it.

Doc Sartin Wrote an Article on Taulbots Pace Calculataor

Doc Sartin wrote an article for American Turf Monthly tauting the Taulbot Pace Calculator. You can read it here. He used the "slide rule" but Randy Kovach wrote a computerized version of it that is quite effective as Doc said.

Computerized version of Ray Taulbot's Pace Calculator

Good evening:

I never before heard tell of a computerized version of the late Mr. Ray Taulbot's pace calculator. I know that Mr. Kovach visits Pace and Cap on occasion. I wonder if he would still consider putting up some copies of it for sale? I think that it could prove to be a very interesting and fascinating tool to add to one's handicapping arsenal.

All the BEST!

Vinnie
