Turfway Park Race 8 Today - Question
For anyone that ran Turfway Race 8 today using RDSS, my question is what did you do with that 9 horse COY CAT??
I used the 4th paceline back (his last dirt race).. I dont think it made a difference in the way of how he rated on BL but was curious how everyone dealt with those paceline selections.. Scott |

By the way....
Race 4 Turfway today, I came up with the 5 ranked 3rd in VDC, 4/1 oddsline... Not a bad $93.00 price :-) Damn paper plays.. |

Pacelines
Hi Scott
Not too sharp with the Poly- dirt- turf syndrome I guess if you work races with poly you better know if horses from the dirt can win at your track But It seems like l for me line 1 would fit for users of only turf or Poly lines /don't use dirt lines Line 3 confirms line 1 as to the horses turf form If I mixed Dirt/poly/turf line line 4 works long answer I would have used line 1 |

Thanks .. No I didn't see it . I just looked at the race without knowing who won and I saved a few bucks . Cause I got the winner in my top 4 BLBL/VDC But I would not have gone to the 4 |

I concur with Bill's advice above. As a general rule (though nothing is hard and fast), for a poly (artificial) surface in today's race, I would prefer (in descending order): 1. a line from another poly track 2. a Turf line 3. a dirt line, but usually ONLY if most of the other runners can also only be rated from dirt lines Also, try to keep the distances as close as possible. Your mileage may vary, but I get satisfactory comparisons, and others report similar. It's also useful to keep track of what's going on at a track. Here's the running positions of winners on opening day at TP, by race (all sprints except for race #4): 8 6 3 1 1 1 1 1 4 4 1 1 3 3 2 1 3 3 1 1 6 3 1 1 1 1 1 1 7 3 1 1 9 5 1 1 Where does a horse have to be at the Stretch call? Except for the 2 gate->wires (1 1 1 1) where should a horse not be to the 2nd call? Consider using this as some kind of guideline as to positional guidelines, but take that with a grain of salt. Study the energy disbursement requirements more closely. I don't have factor models for the day, but I would be surprised to learn that Late was not an important factor for most winners. Given the foregoing thoughts, study the following readouts (and Bill's display of Coy Cat's Raw lines and Running Style: he can win from 3rd position at the Stretch) and see if you could have gotten any closer... Notes: The #9 Coy Cat was #2 CR (Class Rating - back class); its Total Energies were lower (compared to the others' poly lines) due to mostly Turf lines; Coy Cat was the best Late energy horse, with the late running style most fitting what won, at least on opening day. The favourite #5 returns after 204 days off - beyond my personal cut-off limit for win first out, regardless of ratings or odds (works for me). BTW - congratulations on your workup of race #4! Ted

Is there a 'distubance in the force' over Philadelphia today? Someone sent me this for Race #2:
If you can't bet that 6/5 favourite - you know what to do with it... Ted
