It IS Possible to Win at Saratoga!

I've been at this game a long time, including dabbling with Doc's methodology back in the 80s, and recently decided to revisit it, determined to stick with it this time and study my ass off.

I'm still a total rookie, but I feel like I've broken a huge personal barrier, the New York racing scene. Not only have I been doing very well at Belmont, but now, today, for the first time ever, I had a winning day at Saratoga.

Trusting the system, I played 9 of the 11 races and won 6. Playing $3/$2 as Doc prescribed and closely following his (and you guys') directions, I invested $53 (including a few $2 longshot bets, none of which paid off) and pulled in $48.60 in winnings. That's a nice 92% profit . . . at Saratoga, yet!!

I know, that's peanuts to most of you guys, but it's the final sign I needed to finally start upping my wagers a bit. I'm excited. Fingers crossed.

Nice job Sinner. Anytime you leave with more then you came with[no matter the amount] it's a good day. Good luck with the comeback. Hard work will pay off in the long run.

Nice job. 92% R.O.I. is outstanding. Here are my readouts for the day, caught both of the longshots in races 7 and 9 on top. I do pick my own pacelines but usually agree with the programs suggested line about 90% of the time.

Race 1 - Pass - Too many first time starters

Rainman ....what are your configuration settings for DTV ? I picked the same pacelines as you did in the 7th , but did not get the 4 rated that high .

Hey Jim,

I got the same top 5 with the exception that I had the 3 instead of the 10 in my top 5. The 4 was on top for me as well. I use the 50% of DTV recommended setting and cap at +/-35.

I ended up betting $40 win/place on the 4 and when I watched the race I almost cried. The 4 broke funny, Ortiz was standing up on him trying to get him under control, came away dead last, ran poorly up to the stretch, and then just took off. I had already written him off and was hoping my exacta would at least hit with the other horses, and I was amazed and happy when he won at he wire. It isn't over til its over I guess. That bet made for a profitable day. Incredible ride. How he managed that horse in that race was a miracle.

Its only been 4 days, but Saratoga has been kind to me so far.

10th Race

I missed the 10th race. I handicapped it like any other race and that was my mistake. I like to bet late runners in turf races and that is what I did.

I got close to the same readout as Rainman/SinnerG and I completely spaced on the fact that it was a maiden claiming and that maidens run early, even on turf.

The top 3 horses finished in their EPR order on my readout. That is kind of hard to miss in hindsight

I have been doing this too long to forget maidens run early. Guess I was tired by the 10th race and hungry, should have passed and gotten a bite to eat. When I saw the order of finish and looked at the EPRs I was bummed. Live and learn, and learn again.
