Ray Taulbot and Sartin standard of 12 seconds per furlong was an indication of soundness, rather than readiness. Which is probably why he came to the conclusion they did more harm than good.

Why did it remain? He also was a businessman and kept it because of demand. Players latch on to something because of their own beliefs, not because they have been proven or disproven by the Master himself through collection of data and therefore irrelevant.

Sartin never wavered on the main or really important advancements in later programs. As far as some petty things demanded, appeasement of customers was just a good business practice. Teachers either progressed or he got rid of them. Sartin was always looking forward not willing to stand still. Like a horse race those with momentum are winners.

To your point about teachers I remember Howard telling a teaching member at a Meadowlands seminar to either get with the new program or get out. He left those who refuse to move forward in the rear view mirror.

" Monkey rounding into form." His darts landed on # 12 in the 11 race today at GP. A Md.- Clm. race, using my workout technique from this thread and now is in RDSS. This is an example of what your missing; #12 pays $91.40 32.00 19.80. Had $8 on it.

Had 4 horses with it for the EX. and missed that. Also missed the DD and had the winner in race 10.
I put several bets and then grilled some burgers & dogs for the family. Anyway, after that and while chowing down I took another look at the race, particularity workouts.
Only two horses qualified the;
# 10 85 of 6
#12 84 0f 40

Results:

COMPLETED:6856e-0a4a3 GP #11 $3 Exacta 1, WT, 2, 10, 11, 12 none $12.00
$0.00
- $12.00
COMPLETED:c0d64-a085f GP #11 $4 Win 1, 2, 12 none $12.00
$182.80
+ $170.80
COMPLETED:12ee0-93598 GP #11 $4 Win 2, 12 none $8.00
$182.80
+ $174.80
COMPLETED:520b3-47d6d GP #11 $4 Exacta 2, 12, WT, 2, 10, 11, 12 none $24.00
$0.00
- $24.00
"The Monkey " needless to say was ecstatic.

Well done Mitch. Nice to see the monkey responding to the Govs' threat of execution.

There were 5 Md races at GP and 5 at BEL on 3 June 23. The workouts won 7 of 10 for 70%. Of the 7 winners 6 were in the top 2 and one #3. Besides the bomb of $ 91.40 the rest were all under$6.50. Some were small fields. Bottom line is it works despite all the reasons it shouldn't, nothing works all the time, and we must take what the public or insiders give us.

It also works in non-Mdn races, I.e. the 6th at Bel yesterday the # 1 horse paid $13.40.
A 6 F on the Turf Alw. race for 95,000, for 3 yr and up NW2 It works in all types of races and gets all kind of prices. Also, it was ranked #one for workout.

The key here is to work this into your analysis of the horse's form and not be number blind. Every race a horse runs either contributes to its condition or tears it down. Workouts can be a big clue as to whether the horse is on the improve or is declining. Also, to its soundness and if ready off a layoff. Beware of horses that worked a new top since last race.

Workouts since last raced? workouts in the last 30 days? workouts in continuous pattern (esp. if not raced)?

Thanks,

Bill, workout since last race and especially a new top.

FTS best workout among the field, top 2 or 3 best ones.

On FTS the workout can be 4 or 5 workouts back. Whatever its top or best % rating is, no matter when it occurred. Better ones also have a workout from the gate and a 5F work also. Ties separate with trainers' ability or best odds.

Hope that answers your question, if not call me.

Wishing you health Bill,

Mitch44
