Apprentice Angle

vvvHere's an advertisement, I found, that Gasper used to plug his book back in 2010. For the record I did hit all races listed and Gasper gave them out to his client base. c

Now the first question you've got to be asking is: How come those prices are so high? What's going on?
What's going on is the Hidden Form Trainer Angle.

Years ago I had discovered that in certain races, trainers"shoot for a purse" while making sure they don't lose their horse to a claim. - i.e., they slip the horse into a race in such a way as to make sure the crowd thinks the horse is"just another claimer." And if they make all the right moves, this horse, that's in-form and ought to go off at 1-2, instead goes off at 7-1 and the barn has a terrific payday at the windows. But so do I because I spotted the move and CASHED IN ON IT!

I finally got around to putting my 20 years of notes into book form this past summer. In 32 easy-to-follow pages, I put down all the conditions, the tell-tale signs, the clues that a horse's form has been concealed, but more important, when that horse's own connections are setting up a payday at the windows! I must have done a good job spelling it out because within weeks of sending out the first first copies this past summer, my"In" box was loaded with messages from happy customers thanking me for the winningest season of their lives.

J. Hastings of Sarasota wrote: "The beauty of your system is there is no clue anywhere. We have the horse to ourselves!
T, Russo of Philadelphia had this insight: "Deception is the key. The horse is sort of in limbo. It's a claimer but it's not a claimer. Bettors are confused so they stay away. It's perfect!
E.Cramer of Long Island pointed out that"It's a spot play that wins more than a regular service!"

When was the last time you saw raves like that? When was the last time you saw ACTUAL PROOF supplied by a happy user.

Ok folks here are my thoughts for using the angle these days today.
Since Parx currently has a bunch of new apprentice riders it might be wise to pay more attention to this angle. So here are the guidelines for the angle once again. He used it in claiming races[ I use it in both claiming and allowance races and take note of it in hcp and stakes races.
1 The horse must have raced in the last 28 days[if claimed last race you can add 7 more days] and switching from a journeyman to an apprentice today. If longer then 35 days disregard the angle[ I've expanded it to 45 since horses don't run as often in todays' racing.
2. If todays' race has a top/bottom condition like 25000 to 20000 etc [not so common these days] the horse must be running for the top price[25k].
3.a If more the 1 horse qualifies then give preference to the horse that ran at the higher level track
3b If still tied prefer the horse with most recent race.
3c If still tied favor horse that at has not run at this low a claiming price.
Personally I don't pay attention to a,b or c. I'll bet both horse if the price is right.
Well that's it. Good luck if you decide to use the angle
Tim

Thanks Tim for the apprentice jockey angle play.

If the trainer has unsuccessfully used the same jockey in the past , on today’s horse, would you consider downgrading the horse?

Hi Gene. The angle doesn't worry about whether the jockey has been successful on the horse or not. Even under normal conditions if the horse comes up I will generally leave it where it ranks unless I have a capping knock against. I pay more attention when the trainer goes back to the last jockey to win on it.

You are welcome Gene. Just remember the horse runs the race not the jock or trainer.
