Thanks for your interests...I am not the person to answer this question; maybe when Bill V. has some extra energy- he can answer your question with more clarity regarding Doc Sartin's suggestion.

Regarding the Preakness Stakes, I can post several examples where one might focus on: There is a previous article regarding using part of the Kentucky Derby pace line. The entire Derby pace line is not a good line to draw conclusions.

The fractions up to the "Mile" marker are useful to evaluate the pace line.
