illuminating but disturbing report

The safest California track is Del Mar. Anyone know what they do differently. GG with synthetic does not appear to be safer than the others. The last year SA had syn was lower than any since though. |

Del Mar must be doing something correct, but what? I'm surprised other track haven't investigated and adopted their policies, specifically SA.

Factors other than track policies likely also have an effect on the numbers. I haven't followed Delmar in some time, but I'm guessing the quality of the horses and the professionalism of the stables is relatively high there compared to the high volume tracks like SA.
