raceman5: Tampa is also one of my favorite tracks. Good racing and good size fields. I'm about and hour & half from there but only get over there once or twice a meet. The one thing I dislike is there aren't enough tellers there and computer plug-ins. It hard to be online at home.

Mitch is correct in that each race is situational. My 3 surveys were intended only as general info. Each of us must know the tracks we play. Doing some homework is the best way to find out. The stats may well improve at the NYRA and California tracks if those are the only ones the a person plays. Only 1 way to find out. Glad to see Tampa opening next week. I like to play that track .

Brohamer said that when you have a horse coming off a layoff rising in class, it is a positive since it is a sign that the trainer is so high on the horse, he's willing to step it up in class.

If the horse has run recently (What "recent" is compared to then from now is debatable) and is being stepped up after a loss, that is a negative.
