Pete thanks for the races and especially for the second one. It gives Raceman the opportunity just by entering to be The Champ for 2015. None of us would want to see him blow it on a technicality.

Race 4 Hawthorne

No for sure earlies that I can see. I guess I would call the 1 and 6 as early and being out front setting a pace around 24/48/114. They both look suspect from their last races. They run their best from the front so I think it will go OTE.
Got it down to 3,5,8 as the best of the rest. They all have good power moves in their last. They haven't met in any tandems. Hmmmmmmm. Have to eliminate one of them. This is tough. Toss the 8 because because the others positioning looks like they move first and therefore will be in front of the 8 and hopefully stay there.

3,5

The horse I went right to is the early sprinter; the 5. Normally, horses that route well don't look like this. But, the 5 is 1 for 2 at the distance. He has a 3rd in his only race on an off-track and the track was very sloppy yesterday. If I take his last race when he was fighting and add 2/5 to the final time and 6 2/5 to that time to get a 6 furlong time I get 1:11.4 which is quite a bit faster than these other horses.

His final fraction in the last race when he fought was 19 1/5 which is pretty fast given the first quarter fighting time. In one race where he got loose at AP, he ran 18 1/5 in the last furlong and a half.

The 5 is my choice to win the race.

So I read Tims post and he's talking about 5 as the early sprinter. The 5 I'm looking at is not a sprinter and not early. What the????? I just dissected Hawthornes Race 4 from Friday!! Cancel my post above. Sorry. Standby.

I work in RDSS and sometimes I have to restart it 5 times or more to register the current date. Don't know whether it is RDSS or Windows that causes this. Just spent 20 minutes on the wrong race and came up with the same selections as Cigar in todays race!!

Just for fun since I worked the race from yesterday I checked the results to see how I would have fared. I was way off. Had the right idea in the 1 and 6 being early. They were both in front with the 6 wiring by multiple lengths in 24/48/114. Exact on the fractions. Wrong on E/OTE. E/OTE! E/OTE! E/OTE! It is hard to be on the right side of that question often enough. Luckily I didn't play Hawthorne yesterday nor would I with the off track. I will play today for the contest regardless.
