What is happening to racing in general?

Too many tracks open now and too few horses to go around.

There are more cheaper horses than good ones therefore normally a smaller track may contain larger fields however now there are a ton of smaller tracks open which contribute to smaller fields also.

Because of expenses and fewer good breeding prospects the foaling rates have been decreasing. Lastly rather then cooperate on different meets the tracks are trying to eliminate the competition of each other.

Winter racing has the edge now for fuller fields as many tracks close down for that period.
