It was 50 years ago today
On this day 50 years ago at 11:35 am 4 brilliant musicians walked across the zebra crossing outside of Addy Road studios.
The photo would become the famous cover of the band's incredible career. The album contains the final recordings of the Beatles as a group. This album cover is just as much pure art as any of the classics John Paul Ringo and George walked away from the Beatles, And now as men, each went on their own paths August 8, 1969 |

An acquaintance (a younger woman not of our generation with whom I was socializing), once asked me what was my favorite Beatles' song. I'm sure I looked bewildered when I replied that I would have trouble naming my six favorite Beatles' albums. Those lads were and still are the greatest.

The second side of the album is a masterpiece.
On a funny side note Bill if you look past George heading down the street you'll see a VW parked up on the curb. It's the long lost 5th Beetle - lol.

I enjoyed the movie "Yesterday" a Beatles fantasy that was entertaining.
While in the service "Rubber Soul" was on my headphones frequently.

Beetle
Two of the famous clues in during the "Paul is dead" rumors
1. Paul is barefoot 2. The VW beetle license plate says IF 28 Paul would have been 28 had he lived |

I remember that Bill. Another clue was playing one of the songs endings backwards and hearing “Paul is dead” above the static. One of my favorite conspiracy theories of all time.

The Beatles continue to be the soundtrack of my life. Abbey Road is a masterpiece however the medley on side 2 is a result of the total dysfunction going on in the band at that time as Paul was the only one driving the project as the other band members were in the process of walking away. He combined several unfinished songs into what became one of their most iconic pieces.
Visiting London and going on a Beatles tour is still on my bucket list. Hope it won't be too much longer before I experience it in person. |
