3 Marathons from Woodbine, Sunday July 2nd

The 8th, 9th and 10th from Woodbine are 12 furlongs turf, 10 f turf and 10 f Poly. The first two are kind of short fields, having six and 8 starters, respectively.

The early pace in race 8 is probably the 3 who lead all the way internally in 138.2, running 1-1-1 to the stretch and then gave up. But the 3 also ran 3-4-4, back by 2.6 lengths in 135.4, so I am guessing that the pace will be closer to 138. The 5 ran 3-3-3 in 138.1 while making up lengths 12-11-1.6, but again, against the slow mile time.

The 4 has run 3-3-1 in 136.5 and the 1 closes 7-7-4, off by 1.6 lengths while combating a 135.4 mile.

The 4 and 1 are going to be chalky, but that's all I've got.

Race 9.
The 2, 7 and 8 could contest a very fast pace. In order they ran 1-1-2 by 0.5 in 134.4; 1-1-1 by 3 in 134.9 and 2-1-1 by 2.5 in 133.5. I think the best of these is the 8. The 4 and 5 look to close well in this pace set up. the 4 has run 8-7-4 by 1.5 against 133.5 and 2-2-1 vs 134.1. The 5 has run 6-6-1 by 3 in 134.4. So we have:

8. 2-1-1 (1.5) -- 133.5
4. 8-7-4 (1.5) -- 133.5, or
4. 2-2-1 (0.0) -- 134.1
5. 6-6-1 (3.0) -- 134.4

I like the 4, then the 8 and 5, with the 8 at 5/1; other two are chalk.

Race 10.
The 2-6-7-12 come from a Plate Trial tandem that the 7 lead and faded in 137.9. Looks to be only speed in the race. The maiden #11 ran close at the 2nd call and may overtake the 7, so the 7 is out. 12 is out as well.

The 3 and 5 are fillies in tandem from the Oaks. The 3 won, but the 5 had some trouble on the turn while within 2, lost lenths, but gained position to finish 3rd. Timewise these two ran against 137.2 last out; the 5 when not impeded ran on turf 134.8 5-4-2 by a head..

The 1 is a tandem with the 8 and 9, beat both badly, so they are out. Ran against 137.2, running 6-5-2 by a head.

I like the 1 with the 5 and 3, in that order. Good luck today.
