Obituary

OBITUARY

William Lawrence Varone

November 5, 1958 – May 7, 2020

William “Bill” Varone passed away on May 7, 2020 after battling several serious health issues. Bill was born in Boonton, NJ on November 5, 1958. He was a graduate of Parsippany Hills High School. He was the owner of his own bindery shop and delivery service before moving to San Diego in 2010. In San Diego, Bill trained to become a professional long distance truck driver, and he enjoyed traveling the entire country in his big rig. He also received a Security Guard certification and became a much loved, friendly presence to those he protected each day.

Bill was passionate about thoroughbred horseracing. While still living in NJ, he traveled to California to meet with his mentor, Dr. Howard Sartin, who was an enormous influence on his life. Bill founded his own website, PaceandCap.com, where he could share his knowledge of the Sartin Methodology. There he practiced his natural teaching skills and great desire to be of service to others, and he developed many long term and meaningful friendships there. He is greatly respected and loved by that community.

Although he was quiet about it, Bill had a great sense of humor. He was a big sports fan and loved participating in his family football contests. He enjoyed traveling to Saratoga, NY each summer to meet with the Pace and Cap community. He also loved driving his bright yellow Karmann Ghia. He was generous and would often go without so that he could help someone in need.

Bill is survived by his sons Alex and Ben, father Joseph, brother Joe and sister-in law Sandy, sister Lois and brother-in-law Ed, niece Emily and her husband Kelan, nephew Ed and his wife Lee, and his great nephew Danny. He is predeceased by his mother Esther, who passed away in 2016.
