November Contest Rules

Welcome to the November & Breeders' Cup 2012 edition of the RDSS Learn to Win Contest!

We tinker with the rules from time to time in order to make the Contest the best possible learning experience for the Players, while also the most manageable.

Here are the General Rules of the Contest. If you are new to the Contest, please read them and if you don't understand anything, please ask!

Players are restricted to 1 (one) cycle of 20 races. You may still post up to 5 races per day, but after you post 20 races, the Contest is over for you this month and your Contest standing is rated on that 1 cycle of 20 races. You can do it all in 4 days, 4 weekends, or however you choose.

The reasoning for this change is only partly to make the workload manageable for the Contest Manager (Bill V), but perhaps more importantly - that Players should consider that every bet counts; that every race selected for inclusion in your Contest play is seriously intended, that it represents a fair betting possibility (even if you must make this judgement from the Morning Line odds and not real time odds) and you have determined that the way you are choosing to bet it is the best way you know how, for the particular circumstances of the race.

You are still required to make your wager 1 minute before the Equibase Official Off Time. You must still post a screenshot of a RDSS screen or screens you use in your analysis, either before the race runs or before noon Eastern Time the following day. As a courtesy to spectators, it is requested you also follow up each race with the race result.

There is still a Contest Score bonus for a hit rate over 50% (a 'hit' still means a race which returns a profit, i.e. greater than $100); there will still be a few Bonus races where the cards are provided free, everyone gets a 50% bonus on that race's mutuel, and everyone is expected to provide some analysis of their process in that race.

As always, in this educational Contest, all the explanation you are able to provide about your decision making process in as many races as you are able, will help both you and spectators to understand the process of properly and profitably using RDSS and the Sartin Methodology. If anyone has any questions - including spectators, or newcomers to RDSS - about why someone had made decisions they have posted or described, please do feel free to ask that person to elaborate on their thought process.

One final serious request, not a rule: if you decide to join the Contest this month, please make a commitment both to yourself and to the rest of the Players to complete your 20 races.

Be sure to check the Prize Fund post for regular and special prizes this month!

Best of luck - and skill - to this month's Contestants!

Ted
