Jim reference adjustments:
Glen Connolly at the 1990 seminar stated and which makes perfect sense was that once the variant goes above 27 it becomes totally unreliable. In the DRF that's 13.5 lengths, after which is pure guesswork. Sartin experimented with different adjustments for years and discovered two things; 1. The majority of races need no adjustment at all. 2. Most users of his programs were over adjusting and losing races. Huey Mahl stated by breaking a race down into segments it lessens the effect of any variant which makes perfect sense. Sartin agreed. Sartin through his convergence of factors(slicing & dicing) reduced the effect of the variant even further. Only using 50% of the variant was recommended by Sartin to prevent over adjusting and to get more winners. Setting the + and - or range of the variant too high can nullify Sartin's research and concepts to again fall into over adjusting. Ted's current recommendation to the best of my knowledge is +15 and -15, I'm not sure how much that is in lengths for TrackMaster which is where the program gets it information. I went to +15 and -15 however when using +50 & -50 I won many races which proves that most races do not need any adjustments for the daily variant. I would recommend +15 & -15. Mitch44 |
