1/29 GG 6th
I noticed a couple of races the next two days that set up OTE. Here is a race at GG with several E types. The 3 and 4 are E's who also have won when they didn't get the lead. The 4 did that against a much faster 1C. The 5 looks perfect from the OTE side. I will take those 2 to win...

Pretty speedy as Pete says. The only horses that have won from off the lead ( not 1st or 2nd ) are the 3-4-5 and the 5 is the only that does not have to change style to run today, i.e., the other two break on top. I like the 5 and 4 ( who has pressed the fastest pace in line 5, this surface. The 5 has best record this distance 5/15, but is rising in class today, whereas the 4 won an open 10K claimer in last and has faced much better while getting down to this level.
I take 4 on top with the 5 (who might have to make up too much ground and pass too many tired horses in the stretch) Good fortune to those who dare... |

No one but the #5 has passed horses in the stretch while in contention. The #2 looks to be the fastest first fraction horse in the race with those two lines at GG, 21.6 and 21.7 from last and 4th back. Awfully cheap but will mean that most of the Es will be running out of position and she looks as though she can go slower and still maintain the lead.
Interesting race! Poly doesn't appear to be her best surface, but the #6 is going to be really tough to beat in this race. She doesn't need the lead and that 23.1 second fraction in the second back should get her the lead by the 2nd call. |
